This week we had a light texture sprayed on the drywall. We wanted very little texture because we feel that is more appropriate to a log cabin. Protecting the logs was a priority, and it took more time to cover the floor and the walls than it did to spray the texture!

Slate and Tile
We have flooring in the three bathrooms! This first picture is of the tile in the guest bathroom. Jeremy Failing installed the tile for us.
The slate in the master bathroom was more difficult to lay because of all the uneven edges--that's just the nature of real slate! But, we love the multi-colored slate. This picture doesn't do it justice because you can see footprints on it, but when we get it grouted and sealed, it will look great!
Our little "powder room" got tile. The hole in the corner is for the toilet and in the other corner will be a pedestal sink. Eventually, Gary wants to use the stump of our favorite (now dead) pine tree and make a really "cool-looking" pedestal for the rock/boulder sink to sit on.
I placed one of the three Hickory cabinets in its approximate position so that you could see the slate and the Hickory wood. It isn't properly installed yet (there are holes that need to be cut in the back of the cabinet so that the plumbing can go through it), but you can get an idea of how it will look when it is finished.
The slate on the hearth looks really nice! It still needs to be grouted and sealed, but that will have to happen next week.
We won't make our goal of moving in by August 15th, but we're pretty sure that we will be in by Christmas 2010!
