Drawers are Installed!

Breakfast countertop with bread box and new toaster

Drawers installed--just need facings and handles

Re-purposing of old cabinet to use as a buffet
I love the pop of red color with the bread box and new toaster on top of the marble countertop.  It is directly under the "breakfast cabinet" and makes it so easy to make toast because everything is right there.

Gary was able to finish the drawers and install them on the east wall this week.  All that is needed to finish the drawers is to make the facings and add handles or drawer pulls.  The drawer pulls that are on the top drawers right now are just temporary ones until he can make the facings and we can find (or make) some really awesome handles/drawer pulls that will go with our pine cone theme.

We re-purposed the old cabinet that used to be under the stovetop and are now using it as a buffet table at the end of the island.  It is directly across from the baking center and is the storage area for things such as the rice cooker, crock pots, bread maker, flour grinder, and our George Foreman grill.  If I end up liking the height, Gary will make the butcher block island with the south-end having a lower section.  It will have a built-in bookshelf for my cookbooks, too.
