Concrete Sidewalk and Steps Near Our Future Driveway

Steps on Northeast Corner of the Log Cabin

Our front steps were poured today on the northeast side of the house. The concrete mix had a "chocolate brown" powder added to it so that they would match the steps in the backyard. They were also stamped to look like log. You can see that the boulders Gary brought in last week were used to line the steps.
Eventually, we will have a sidewalk leading up the driveway (on the right side) that will meet up with the landing. These new steps lead you to the main sidewalk (which is already around the house), and you can turn right to go toward the backyard, or left to the front door.

The Last Section of Sidewalk

The last section of sidewalk was poured right above the "chocolate brown" steps on the northeast corner of the house. You can see a gap of 12 inches between this section of sidewalk and the sidewalk that is next to the house. This "gap" will be made into a concrete gutter that will be filled with Arizona cobblestone. When it rains (and it does rain in the desert sometimes) the run-off will channel into this gutter and be carried down the hillside via a waterfall feature--which is yet to be made.

Stamping the Steps

Just like the steps in the backyard, these front steps were stamped with a silicone form that is made to look like log. We love the look! Thank you Jeff and Steve!
