Installing the Pocket Door
Jacob and Charlie Kayser helped Gary to lift and install the pocket door between the entry hall and the great room. This door works as a sound barrier and heat barrier between the two parts of the house. Debi can be in the living room playing the piano, and Gary can be in the great room watching TV and neither will bother the other.
The door also works as a way to keep the heat from the great room's wood stove in the half of the house that we mainly "live" in. The great room (TV, dining room, kitchen area) and our master bedroom receive the benefit of the wood stove's heat and the pocket door helps to keep the heat contained mainly in the living areas.
We can also use the door to hide the messy kitchen when guests come over--we'll just keep them waiting in the living room!

Entry Hall Coat Closet
We have doors on our coat closet in the entry hall! We've had the doors in storage for two years, and they were finally installed this past weekend. It's nice to not have a "wall of coats" be the first thing a visitor sees upon entering our new log home.
