The Concrete Pad
This concrete pad was the foundation for the guest house that was on the property when we bought it in 2005. We demolished the house in 2006, but left the concrete pad until this week. We are removing the concrete to make a better slope for the backyard. We will also be grading an area for a future wooden deck (off the master bedroom). Eventually, we will pour new concrete for an outdoor kitchen/living room.
The top pad measures 12'x18'. The bottom pad was about 12'x 6'. The footings were 12" thick all around. Gary used a jackhammer to break apart the concrete. Then Debi loaded the pieces into the bucket of the tractor and Gary hauled it off. It took us two days to remove all of the concrete.

End of Day 2
The concrete has been hauled off. Tomorrow we will move the large rocks to the retaining wall on the south side of the house. Then Gary can begin to grade the slope.
