| Danielle, cooking Aebelskivers at her parents' home (Christmas morning 2011) |
I don't know when making aebelskivers for Christmas morning breakfast became a tradition in the Greenwood Family (since we don't have any Danish ancestors) but for whatever reason we used to have these on Christmas morning when I was growing up. A few years ago I bought my own aebelskivers pan, but it wasn't until this year that I made these for Christmas Eve Breakfast. It was Gary's first time eating aebelskivers--and he is Danish! This will have to become a Whiting Family tradition from now on.
Gary didn't mind the overdone aebelskivers.
Even though they look burnt, they tasted fine.

Aebelskivers with butter, boysenberry syrup, and powdered sugar. Yummy!
